The lineup underscores Tribeca's role as a vital platform for cinematic innovation and community engagement.

Tribeca Festival Celebrates 25th Anniversary with Notable Premieres and Special Events

The highly anticipated 2026 Tribeca Festival, marking its 25th anniversary, has officially unveiled its extensive lineup of feature and short films. Scheduled to run from June 3-14 in New York, the festival kicks off with a documentary about Earth, Wind & Fire, directed by Questlove, as previously announced. Film enthusiasts can look forward to a significant reunion between Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson in the Holmes-directed film Happy Hours, making its world premiere. This year's festival also boasts an impressive array of cinematic works featuring esteemed actors such as Susan Sarandon and Aubrey Plaza in The Accompanist, Alison Brie and Dustin Hoffman in The Revisionist, and Sofia Boutella, Simon Pegg, and Quentin Tarantino in Only What We Carry.

Beyond feature presentations, the festival will host the closing night film, Girl From Hell’s Kitchen, a documentary centered on Alicia Keys. A special 30th-anniversary celebration of the beloved series Boy Meets World, titled Doc Meets World, will feature the final live podcast performance by original cast members Rider Strong, Danielle Fishel, and Will Friedle. Additional feature films include The Last Day starring Alicia Vikander and Wagner Moura, Rain Reign with Paul Rudd, and The Leader featuring Vera Farmiga and Dustin Hoffman. The documentary slate is equally compelling, with a gala screening of Sara Bareilles’ Good Grief, followed by a live performance by the artist, and films showcasing figures like Carmelo Anthony, tennis legends Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova, and a deep dive into the impressions of past presidents.

The festival's leadership, co-founder Jane Rosenthal and festival director Cara Cusumano, emphasized Tribeca's founding spirit of healing and community through storytelling, which remains more pertinent than ever. This year's program consists of 118 feature films, with a record-breaking 103 world premieres, representing 44 countries. A significant highlight is the festival's dedication to diversity, with 48 percent of films in competition directed by women and 50 percent by BIPOC filmmakers. The short film program further expands this commitment with 86 titles, including 45 world premieres across various genres.

The 2026 Tribeca Festival's robust and diverse program stands as a testament to the power of cinema to unite, inspire, and provoke thought. The festival’s ongoing dedication to showcasing both established and emerging talent, coupled with its focus on impactful narratives, offers a rich cultural experience. It reaffirms Tribeca’s legacy as a pivotal event in the global film landscape, continually evolving to reflect the dynamic world of artistic expression and human experience.
