Nissan Teases Next-Gen Skyline; US Market to Receive Infiniti Version
Nissan has officially unveiled initial glimpses of its forthcoming Skyline model, slated for release outside the American market. Notably, the United States will instead receive a distinct Infiniti performance sedan, which will share its underlying architecture with the new Skyline.
The revealed teasers highlight a striking design for the new Skyline, featuring prominent vertical front lighting and a sharply sculpted front fascia. Nissan's global design director, Alfonso Albaisa, confirmed that the vehicle's styling draws inspiration from its storied past, particularly in the reintroduction of its characteristic round taillights, which are seen subtly protruding from the rear. This design approach aims for an "aggressive and modern" appearance, with proportions reminiscent of the original iconic model, and prominently displays the 'Skyline' badging on its rear fender.
While the new Skyline will cater to international markets, the American version, branded as an Infiniti, is expected to offer a compelling performance package. Speculation suggests this Infiniti sedan, potentially carrying the Q50 or Q60 designation, will be equipped with a refined version of Nissan's 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 engine.
