Webby Awards Commend Digital Pioneers in Grand 30th Anniversary Celebration

On April 21, 2026, the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences revealed the winners for the momentous 30th annual Webby Awards. Among the luminaries recognized for their digital contributions were the popular series “Heated Rivalry,” global music icon Bad Bunny, acclaimed actor Timothée Chalamet, and rising music sensation Sabrina Carpenter. Esteemed publication The Hollywood Reporter also received an accolade, specifically the People’s Voice Award in the Entertainment, General Desktop & Mobile Sites category, a testament to its strong online community engagement.

The roster of winners extended to a constellation of other prominent figures and entities, including Selena Gomez, Cardi B, Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, and Jimmy Fallon, alongside acclaimed productions like “The White Lotus” and “Severance.” Innovative companies such as WAYMO and Apple were also honored for their pioneering work.

Special Achievement Awards, designed to acknowledge profound impact on internet culture, will be bestowed upon several deserving individuals. Claude is set to receive the Webby Person of the Year Award, Shonda Rhimes the Webby Streaming Person of the Year Award, and Kylie Kelce the Webby Podcast of the Year Award. Taraji P. Henson will be honored with the IADAS and NAACP Webby Advocate of the Year Award, while Druski and Pete Davidson will each receive a Webby Special Achievement Award. Further corporate recognition includes Google as Brand of the Year, iHeart Media as Webby Podcast Company of the Year, and PBS as Webby Media Company of the Year, reflecting their significant influence and innovation in their respective digital domains.

Jesse Feister, executive director of Webby Media Group, lauded this year’s cohort, stating, “This 30th Anniversary class of Webby Winners is a reflection of the Internet at its best: vibrant, diverse, and continuously innovative.” He emphasized the role of these honorees—from global superstars to cutting-edge AI platforms like Google Gemini and Claude Code—in setting new standards for digital excellence and shaping the future of the online world.

The celebratory awards ceremony is scheduled for May 11 in New York City. Emmy-nominated comedian and “The Daily Show” correspondent Josh Johnson will host the event, known for its unique tradition of requesting winners to deliver speeches limited to precisely five words.

The Webby Awards continue to be a vital platform for recognizing and fostering the ingenuity that drives the digital era. The diverse array of winners this year underscores the internet's expansive reach and its growing influence across entertainment, technology, and culture. As digital landscapes continue to transform, the awards serve as a beacon, celebrating those who are at the forefront of innovation and engagement, inspiring future generations to push the boundaries of what's possible online. The emphasis on five-word speeches encapsulates the spirit of concise and impactful communication, a hallmark of digital interaction.
