Essential Utilities, through its Aqua Pennsylvania division, has recently expanded its service footprint. This expansion follows the successful acquisition of the Greenville Municipal Water Authority, a deal valued at $18 million.

The acquisition, completed on March 30, 2026, significantly increases Aqua Pennsylvania's customer base by more than 2,900, extending its reach into Greenville Borough, Hempfield, and West Salem Townships. Essential Utilities plans to inject $10 million into system upgrades over the next decade, a commitment aimed at bolstering the reliability of drinking water services and complying with regulatory standards. The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission approved this transaction on January 15, 2026, ensuring that existing customer rates will not change as a result of the merger. Essential Utilities, a holding company, provides critical water, wastewater, and natural gas services through its various regulated segments, demonstrating a steady financial performance with notable net income and sales growth in 2025.

This strategic growth initiative underscores the company's dedication to improving public utility infrastructure. By integrating new service areas and committing to substantial investments, Essential Utilities reinforces its position as a vital provider of essential services, ensuring access to high-quality and dependable resources for an expanding community. The consistent financial health and strategic expansions of such entities are crucial for regional development and community well-being.
